On the day 04/02/23, the paper “A particle filter-based virtual sensor for estimating the state of charge and internal temperature of lithium-ion batteries: Implementation in a simulated study case”, one of the results from works developed within the INSTABAT Project, was made available online in the Journal of Energy Storage (IF 8.907).

The paper proposes a virtual sensor based on a particle filter to estimate the internal temperature and the state of charge from voltage and current data of a prismatic lithium-ion battery measured with physical sensors.
The proposed approach was tested using data from a numerical simulation based on commercial software to reproduce the 3D electrochemical and thermal behavior of batteries. The method proved to be viable for the application, as it presented good accuracy, convergence rate and computational cost when compared to other literature solutions.
